Code of Conduct
Each year we want softball players and parents/guardians to know what is expected of them throughout the softball season. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a fun learning experience. It is our hope that with mutual consent from players, parents, and coaches, that this will be accomplished. Cooperation and teamwork is vital to our program's success.
For over 50 years, Joliet Softball Association (JSA) has believed strongly in the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership through example. As a registered member of the Joliet Softball Association, our athletes and their families actions reflect not only on themselves, but also on teammates, coaches and our softball program. In exchange for the opportunity to play for JSA, families need to agree to abide by and follow the guidelines below.
- Treat all players and coaches with respect.
- Be positive and constructive at all times.
- Not use abusive language or display aggressive actions.
- Treat all umpires with respect, recognizing that softball rules involve judgment.
- Always cheer positively, providing encouragement for members of both teams.
- Clean up after the games and always be willing to help out wherever needed and when asked.
- Always show good sportsmanship on and off the field.
- Treat all coaches with respect, recognizing that they are volunteers donating their time and energy to the players.
Coaches will be responsible for the players and fans at their games, including asking them to leave if they are not acting according to the expectations set by the Joliet Softball Association. If there are any questions concerning specific playing time, positions(s), and/or concerns regarding specific areas of the game, they are to be discussed privately with the coaches at an appropriate time and place (outside of games, practices, the team dug out).
